HOMESTEAD TIP OF THE DAY
Warmer days mean it’s time to help your flock stay cool. Add shade structures, frozen treats, and shallow water pans for them to wade in. Clean their coop more frequently to reduce odor and flies, and consider switching to a summer ration if you're balancing growth, egg-laying, and heat management. High-protein snacks and electrolytes in water during hot spells can help birds handle stress better.

BROUGHT TO YOU BY

Ever Bought a Tool That Fell Apart the First Time You Used It?
Me too. And I was over it.
Last summer, I was out trying to plant tomatoes when my shovel literally bent in half like it was made of foil. I stood there, sweating, frustrated, thinking, “Why can’t anyone just make a tool that actually works?”
If you’ve been burned by cheap tools, you’re not alone. That’s exactly why the Ultimate X23 Shovel was created.
1. Built to last — solid, powder-coated carbon steel
2. Comfortable to use — ergonomic, no-blister grip
3. Multi-purpose — dig, trench, plant, weed, slice
4. Doesn’t bend, rust, or quit on you
It’s one of those tools you buy once… and keep for life.
(And no, it doesn’t come with pink plastic parts. Just real performance.)
Garden season is here. You deserve tools that can keep up with you.

9 Herbs Every Homesteader Should Know for Healthy Hair 💚
Homesteading life can be tough on our bodies. Long days under the sun, dry winters, and not enough time for self-care… our hair often takes the hit first.
The good news is, nature already has the answer. Just like we grow food to nourish our families, we can grow (or buy) herbs that help bring our hair back to life. Below are nine herbs you can use in teas, rinses, masks, and even your meals to support hair strength and growth the natural way.
1. Gotu Kola
Gotu Kola strengthens hair from the root and helps wake up tired follicles.
Drink it as tea or take it as a supplement.
Use it in homemade oils or rinses to massage the scalp and thicken strands.
2. Saw Palmetto
Saw Palmetto blocks DHT, a hormone that causes hair thinning, especially helpful for hormonal shifts after childbirth or stress.
Take it as a supplement.
Add it to a scalp oil or shampoo for external support.
3. Horsetail
Horsetail is full of silica, a mineral that builds strong hair and nails.
Drink it in tea or take it powdered in capsules.
Use it in DIY hair rinses to help slow shedding and strengthen the strands.
4. Nettle
Nettle is one of the most mineral-rich herbs out there, loaded with iron, vitamin C, and more.
Steep fresh or dried nettle leaves in tea to nourish from within.
Use it in hair masks or rinses to add shine and thickness.
5. He Shou Wu (Fo-Ti)
This traditional Chinese herb is known for its reputation in promoting hair regrowth and delaying grays.
Take it in powdered or capsule form.
Use in hair rinses or masks to support follicle strength.
6. Gynostemma
Known for helping the body adapt to stress, Gynostemma also supports mineral absorption in the hair.
Drink it as a calming tea.
Use it in rinses for strengthening brittle or aging hair.
7. Rosemary
Rosemary isn’t just for roast chicken, it’s a hair powerhouse that improves circulation and may promote regrowth.
Boil it in water and use it as a scalp rinse.
Infuse it in oil (like olive or jojoba) and rub into the scalp to stimulate growth.
8. Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha is a stress-reducing root that can also reduce hair fall due to hormonal imbalances or anxiety.
Take it as a supplement or blend into teas.
Mix the powder into hair masks with honey or oil to help soothe the scalp.
9. Gynostemma
This herb shows promise in not only strengthening hair but also preventing early graying.
Add it to tea blends or steep it solo.
Include it in hair rinses when you want both strength and shine.
How to Use These Herbs Simply
Here are three beginner-friendly ways to bring these herbs into your homestead routine:
Herbal Hair Rinse – Steep 2 tbsp of dried herb (like rosemary or nettle) in 2 cups of boiling water. Let it cool. After shampooing, pour it over your scalp. Massage and leave it in—don’t rinse out.
Herbal Oil Infusion – Place your herb of choice in a clean jar and cover it with a carrier oil (olive or coconut work well). Let it sit in a sunny window for 2-4 weeks. Strain and use to massage your scalp 2-3 times per week.
Nourishing Herbal Tea – Steep 1 tsp of dried herbs in hot water for 10 minutes. Sip daily. Nettle, ashwagandha, and gynostemma are especially good for this.
What to Watch Out For
Not every herb is for everyone. If you’re pregnant, nursing, or taking medications, do a quick check or ask a holistic health professional. Herbs may be natural, but they’re still powerful.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
How 5 Minutes a Day Can Change the Way You Live 🥰
Most homesteaders and homemakers live on the edge of constant doing. We feed families, tend gardens, haul firewood, and stretch every hour of the day. But even the busiest women feel it… the ache of losing touch with what matters most to them.
But there’s a way to get it back, and it starts with just 5 minutes.
What is Synchrodestiny?
Synchrodestiny is a fancy word for something simple: choosing to be present, and then watching how life shows up to meet you there. It’s about listening to your own voice, instead of always answering everyone else’s.
This daily habit doesn’t require a journal, app, or special space. Just a few minutes and a willingness to pause.
✨ The 3 Questions That Bring You Back to Center
Every morning or evening, take a few deep breaths and ask yourself:
Who am I?
Think about what values, passions, or traits make you feel like yourself. Words like “nurturer,” “builder,” or “truth-seeker” are all fair answers. What do I want for my life?
Think beyond your to-do list. Do you want a slower pace? More connection? A life that reflects your heart, not just your habits? What do I want from my life today?
Keep this one simple. Maybe it’s calm. Maybe it’s energy. Maybe it’s to feel proud when your head hits the pillow.
These questions can guide your day better than a planner ever could.
Why Homesteaders Especially Need This
On the homestead, it’s easy to slip into survival mode. But that way of living, even if it looks productive, can feel hollow after a while.
When you take a few minutes for reflection, you remember why you chose this life in the first place. You reconnect with peace, not just productivity.
How to Make This a Daily Practice (Without Overcomplicating It)
Pick a regular time. Right after your coffee or before bed works best for most.
Sit somewhere quiet. The porch, barn, pantry corner, anywhere you won’t be pulled away.
Ask the three questions silently or aloud. Speak to yourself like you would a trusted friend.
Write the answers if you want. Even a few words help. Over time, you’ll start to notice patterns.
Let go of needing “the right answer.” This is about honesty, not performance.
Why This Works (Even When Nothing Else Seems To)
When you know what you’re living for, the hard days feel less heavy. When you’ve named what matters most, the rest starts to fall in place.
We can't always control the weather, the crops, or the kids’ moods, but we can control what we focus on. Synchrodestiny just helps us focus on the right things.
